A Measurement of Social Costs of congested Transportation in Metropolis
Abstract
This study deals with the measurement of social costs, especially congested transportation associated with population growth.
In the case of congested transportation, I used the marginal social cost when a family that immigrate into the metropolitan area purchase an automobile.
Marginal social cost is the sum of marginal user cost, marginal government cost, marginal environmental cost, and time cost owing to the congestion.
Three costs are measured net of taxes and fees levied by governments on auto ownership and use. And tie cost is measured a part of incomes or wages calculated in the Mills and Kim model (1985) and its hypothesis. Thus, my estimate of social cost
of
conjested transportation is about £Ü2.675,000 per family.
